The method of preparation that I offer my clients is called the Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Traditional Chinese Medicine method involves steaming the placenta prior to dehydration with purifying and warming herbs.
Placenta encapsulation allows mamas to access the benefits of their placenta over a longer period of time, which many feel helps their postpartum healing and improves the quality of their experience.
Cost of Encapsulation: $250
The encapsulation fee includes the Traditional style of encapsulation, placenta prints, tincture, umbilical cord keepsake and placenta salve. Also included is pick-up from the hospital/birth center and delivery of your completed placenta pills to you at your home.
For more information concerning Group B Strep, the recent CDC case study and the efforts I make to assure complete safety from cross contamination, please go to the FAQ section.
Placenta tincture is made in the same style as an herbal tincture. Fresh and powdered placenta are added to alcohol, which extracts the medicinal properties of the placenta. This can be taken after your pills have run out and saved for long term use. No additional fee to include placenta tincture.
Placenta salve is useful for helping heal any skin tears or abrasions, including Caesarian scars, perineal tears, hemorrhoids and other postpartum issues. I infuse a beeswax-based salve with placenta powder. If you are a sliding-scale client, please expect to pay an additional $10 dollars.
A placenta print is made by placing your placenta down onto acid-free, high-quality paper. The imprint left behind depicts the “Tree of Life”. Each one is unique and beautiful–a precious keepsake. No additional fee to include placenta prints.
Postpartum Doula Support
I am also a postpartum doula, but not currently offering this service. A postpartum doula provide in home support for clients to help them get the rest and recovery they need in the early days and weeks following childbirth. A postpartum doula can help in many areas, including breastfeeding, postnatal body care, light housework and meal preparations, emotional supporting and birth processing. I recommend Brave Birth Services or Bridgetown Babies for postpartum doula support.
