There are two main methods of preparation that I offer my clients. You can choose from either the Traditional Chinese Medicine or Energizing Encapsulation Method. The Traditional Chinese Medicine method involves steaming the placenta prior to dehydration with purifying and warming herbs. In the Energizing Encapsulation method, there is no steaming before the raw placenta is dehydrated. In both methods, the end result are pills (just to reassure those who might be concerned). Check the FAQ for more information about these options. Please feel free be in touch to discuss which method could be best for you or click here to fill out a client interest form and I will contact you directly.
Placenta encapsulation allows mamas to access the benefits of their placenta over a longer period of time, which many feel helps their postpartum healing and improves the quality of their experience.
Cost of Encapsulation: $250
The encapsulation fee includes your choice of either the Traditional or Energizing style of encapsulation, placenta prints, tincture, umbilical cord keepsake and placenta salve. Also included is pick-up from the hospital/birth center and delivery of your completed placenta pills to you at your home.
Placenta tincture is made in the same style as an herbal tincture. Fresh and powdered placenta are added to alcohol, which extracts the medicinal properties of the placenta. This can be taken after your pills have run out and saved for long term use. No additional fee to include placenta tincture.
Placenta salve is useful for helping heal any skin tears or abrasions, including Caesarian scars, perineal tears, hemorrhoids and other postpartum issues. I infuse a beeswax-based salve with placenta powder. If you are a sliding-scale client, please expect to pay an additional $10 dollars.
A placenta print is made by placing your placenta down onto acid-free, high-quality paper. The imprint left behind depicts the “Tree of Life”. Each one is unique and beautiful–a precious keepsake. No additional fee to include placenta prints.
PLACENTA SMOOTHIE PREPARATION
Some clients are interesting in reserving a portion of their placenta to be made into smoothies. For those that desire this additional preparation, I can prepare your placenta into frozen, easy to use, portioned cubes that can be added to smoothies during the first few weeks of your post-natal recovery.
Postpartum Doula Support
I am also a postpartum doula and offer in home support for clients to help them get the rest and recovery they need in the early days and weeks following childbirth. A postpartum doula can help in many areas, including breastfeeding, postnatal body care, light housework and meal preparations, emotional supporting and birth processing.
