Services
Placenta medicine has been used in a variety of cultures all over the world. The methods that I use to perform this service are taken from Traditional Chinese Medicine and ensure the maximum potency retention of your placenta. I offer placenta encapsulation, but can also prepare all or a portion of your placenta raw for your consumption. In addition to an encapsulation, I can also prepare a placenta tincture. Placenta prints are also available, which involves placing your placenta down on acid-free paper prior to encapsulation and making a print of it as a keepsake. As an artist, I also love making portraits of my clients either before or after their births. Let me know if you are interested, and I will include your portrait with the cost of your encapsulation. Encapsulation
If you are interested in having your placenta encapsulated, I would like to meet with you once before your due date to go over the process with you in person, answer any questions and fill out paperwork. The encapsulation process begins after you have had your baby and birthed your placenta, ideally within that first 24-48 hours. I perform the service in your home, so I can begin as soon as someone is able to deliver it home from the hospital or birth center. If you are having a homebirth, I can come as soon as you are ready. *Note: the placenta needs to be kept in refridgeration or on ice in a cooler. After 48 hours, the placenta needs to be placed in the freezer. This is done to ensure maximum potency. The encapsulation process includes cleaning, steaming, dehydrating and then grinding the placenta to be placed in capsules. The dehydration of the placenta takes approximately 8-10 hours. I will thoroughly santize your kitchen before and after I perform the service. Additionally, I will bring my own supplies and will not use any of your pots or kitchen utensils to perform this service. If you are having a hospital birth and anticipate any resistance to taking your placenta home with you, please let me know. I can advice you how best to navigate the system. There is no legislation that protects a mother's right to keeping her placenta in Oregon, however, there is also no specific rule in hositals that prevent you from taking it. I can also provide you with a legal document which removes all legal liability from the hospital following the release of your placenta. Fees
The fee for encapsulation is $250.00. This includes your placenta pills and a placenta print. *Special arrangements can be made for those with financial difficulties. Please contact me for more information. For postpartum doula work I charge $25/hour. |
